Nine lions have reportedly died at Lahore Safari Park over the past few days, while two giraffes recently brought from abroad have also reportedly died, officials said.
Additional Chief Wildlife Officer Mudassar Hassan stated that the deceased lions were suffering from illness, adding that some animals at the park had also developed disabilities.
He said the department is forming a committee to review the incidents and improve animal protection measures to prevent similar losses in the future.
Authorities have reportedly increased monitoring and care efforts to avoid further animal deaths, particularly among the remaining giraffes at the park.
