The Sindh Education Department’s Steering Committee has finalized the schedule for upcoming board examinations and the new academic session across Karachi and the rest of the province.
Under the approved plan, annual matriculation examinations for classes IX and X will begin on March 31 after Eid, while intermediate examinations will start on April 15. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah.
The committee also decided that the 2026–27 academic session will commence on April 1. Matric results will be announced on June 1, followed by intermediate results on June 15.
The implementation of the Uniform Examination Syllabus has been postponed. The revised syllabus will now apply to classes IX and X from the 2027 annual examinations.
The Steering Committee maintained the existing summer and winter vacation schedule. Summer holidays will run from June 1 to July 31, while winter vacations will remain from December 22 to December 31. Officials noted that any revision to winter holidays would require another meeting in April.
A proposal to revise winter holidays was discussed, but representatives of Cambridge schools opposed changes to their academic calendar, citing alignment with international schedules. The proposal was subsequently dropped.
