29 Police Officers of Major Punjab City Dismissed Over Alleged Drug Trafficking Case

City Police Officer Dr. Sardar Ghiyas Gul Khan has reportedly dismissed 29 police officials in Gujranwala over alleged involvement in drug trafficking, corruption, and facilitation of criminals as part of an ongoing internal accountability drive.

Police sources said 16 personnel were removed for allegedly maintaining links with drug dealers, while another 13 officials were dismissed over corruption, misconduct, and involvement in criminal cases.

Authorities took action after departmental inquiries and examination of evidence.

The CPO said police are continuing operations against drug traffickers and criminal networks while enforcing strict accountability within the department.

He reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and warned that no officer involved in aiding criminals would receive leniency.

In a separate development, disciplinary proceedings were reportedly initiated against several officers accused of accepting a bribe from a habitual drug dealer and registering a lesser charge instead of a narcotics case.

A charge sheet has been issued, and an inquiry officer has been directed to submit a report within seven days.

Officials said strict action against corrupt or criminally involved personnel will continue.
