Azam Khan Stuns Fans With Weight Loss Ahead of PSL 11

The 27-year-old Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter has completed a dramatic fitness transformation ahead of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) season.

Azam Khan, who was signed for Rs. 3.25 crore at the inaugural PSL auction earlier this week, revealed on social media that he has lost 20 kilograms. He shared a photo showing a noticeably leaner appearance and captioned it: “20kgs down. Haven’t felt lighter in years, more to go.”

This is not the first time the 25-year-old has undergone a major weight loss transformation. The son of former Pakistan captain Moin Khan faced body-shaming from early in his career.

In 2021, he lost 30 kilograms after spending nearly a year at Pakistan’s National Cricket Academy, where he focused on aerobic training, structured gym sessions, and a disciplined diet.

After two underwhelming PSL seasons, Azam rebounded strongly in 2022, finishing as the tournament’s 10th-highest run scorer. During that period, he also made his international debut and earned contracts in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with Barbados Royals and in the ILT20 with Desert Vipers.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo in 2023, Azam addressed criticism about his fitness and family background.

“People will always judge me because my father has played for Pakistan, but it’s not my fault I was born into his house,” Azam said. “After I got my chance in the PSL, people criticized me because I was overweight and said my body was not suited for elite-level cricket.”

In total, Azam has played 61 PSL matches for Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United. He has scored 1,206 runs at a strike rate of 143.40. As a wicketkeeper, he has taken 27 catches and completed seven stumpings. He will represent Karachi Kings in the upcoming PSL season.

Karachi Kings have also strengthened their squad with veteran Australian batter David Warner, who was acquired for Rs. 7.9 crore. Warner captained the team in PSL 10, scoring 368 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 153.97.

Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha, previously with Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, was signed by the Kings for Rs. 5.85 crore.

Earlier, the franchise retained Hasan Ali (Platinum), Mohammad Abbas Afridi (Diamond), Khushdil Shah (Gold), and Saad Baig (Emerging).

With a reshaped body and renewed focus, Azam Khan now heads into PSL 11 aiming to make a strong impact for Karachi Kings.
