Free Wi-Fi Service Reportedly Suspended at Major Railway Station

Lahore Railway Station’s free Wi-Fi service has stopped functioning after railway officials allegedly failed to pay the internet service provider, disrupting a facility that had been introduced for passengers.

Despite the suspension, QR codes promoting the service remain displayed across the station. Commuters continue trying to connect, only to discover that the network is no longer active. Many passengers voiced frustration, saying the continued display of promotional material creates confusion.

Sources said the private company that had installed and managed the internet service withdrew its equipment after outstanding payments were not cleared. The Wi-Fi devices, previously set up at the station’s main entrance and on platforms two and four, have reportedly been removed.

The initiative was launched under the direction of Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and was rolled out at major railway stations, including Lahore and Karachi, to provide free internet access to travelers.

Passengers said the suspension has added to their inconvenience, especially as trains frequently face delays. They urged authorities to either restore the service or remove the misleading signage to avoid further confusion.
