Islamabad Police Fails to Enforce Kite Flying Ban on Major Road

The Islamabad Police has come under criticism after failing to curb kite flying along the busy Islamabad Highway, where the activity is posing serious risks to motorists and pedestrians alike.

According to eyewitnesses, children were seen flying kites from the green belt along the highway. Kite strings were reportedly left hanging across parts of the road, while several children were observed running into fast-moving traffic in attempts to retrieve drifting kites.

Despite the visible danger, no action was taken by authorities at the site. Commuters passing through the area recorded videos showing children flying kites dangerously close to traffic, creating potential road safety hazards for drivers, motorcyclists, and pedestrians.

The clips have since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread concern and criticism over the apparent absence of law enforcement.

Kite flying is strictly prohibited in Islamabad due to the serious safety threats it poses. The Islamabad Capital Territory administration has enforced a complete ban on the manufacturing, sale, and flying of kites.

The restriction was introduced to prevent injuries and fatalities caused by hazardous chemical-coated, metal, or nylon strings, which have previously resulted in severe accidents.

Under the existing regulations, violators are liable to face legal action.
