Indonesia, Pakistan Move to Strengthen Air Force Cooperation

Prabowo Subianto has expressed interest in strengthening Indonesia’s defence capabilities by leveraging the training and aerospace infrastructure of the Pakistan Air Force, according to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations.

The interest was conveyed during a meeting with Pakistan’s Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, who highlighted longstanding defence cooperation and shared strategic ties between the two countries.

During his visit to Indonesia, the air chief also held meetings with senior defense officials, including the leadership of the Indonesian Air Force, where both sides discussed expanding cooperation in training, professional exchanges, and collaboration in emerging aerospace sectors.

Indonesian officials sought Pakistan’s support in enhancing operational and flying training, acknowledging PAF’s combat experience and training standards.

Air Chief Marshal Sidhu was also awarded the Indonesian Air Force’s highest honour in recognition of his role in strengthening bilateral air power cooperation.

Indonesian leadership further appreciated Pakistan’s progress in defence modernisation and the advanced facilities at the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park.
