Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has taken notice of the fatal accident on the M-9 Motorway and ordered an immediate inquiry into the incident.
He directed the Inspector General of Motorway Police to investigate the crash and submit a detailed report at the earliest. In a statement, the minister also instructed authorities to strictly enforce vehicle fitness checks, particularly focusing on tire conditions.
He ordered that no vehicle with worn-out, weak, or expired tires be allowed to enter the motorway. He said officials must carry out thorough inspections of all vehicles before permitting access.
The minister emphasized that while commercial transport requires close scrutiny, private vehicles must also undergo proper safety checks. He instructed motorway police to strictly implement prescribed safety standards for every vehicle traveling on national highways and motorways to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Abdul Aleem Khan expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the accident. He extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for strength and patience for those affected.

How come on M9 from Karachi to Hyderabad & Hyderabad to Karachi, heavy vehicles and buses are allowed to run in the fast line at the speed less than 40km/hour blocking all three lanes with slow speed causing crash every day.
While in Punjab heavy traffic is not allowed in fast lane.
Sindh Government should make a law and enforce it so no heavy traffic in the fast lane on motorways of Sindh province. Most of these heavy traffic drivers are under the influence of narcotics.
I recently travelled to Karachi by road and back and I CONFIRM that busses are not maintaining lane discipline and are also recklessly changing lanes. One truck changed lanes so abruptly, and ambulance was nearly hit.
Authorities are advised to take proactive measures. Not measures after fatalities.
Motorways laws are evereywhere in Pakistan, it’s motorway police neglince that they only focused to fine vehicles for over speeding only, whereas they have not any facilty to check drivers being addicted.
Moreover majority commercial drivers use fast lane track through out the Pakistan, not only in Sindh special.
NH&MP falls under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government, not the Sindh Government.
What’s your point?
Sindh govt…is intensely busy…minting black money and acquiring properties in Dubai and Abu Dahabi and elsewhere in the world… so they don’t have any time left for such petty issues… people dying in various incidents… They staunchly believe in Quran’s statement…
Kullo nafsin zaiqa tul Maut…
Motorway police is too busy checking speed and giving heavy fines . They have no time to check lane discipline. Whether vehicles have proper lights . Tires are good , etc
Sadly, illiterate people are issued licences. Education of the people of Pakistan must be a first priority up to metric level at least. Feeling this and uneducated and an illiterate driver who cannot even read road signs should not be allowed to either drive or have a licence. Then it is absolutely necessary that gradually motorcycles which are the most dangerous vehicle on the roads these days must be eliminated from Pakistan. In Western countries you will never see such small motorcycles as 100cc motorcycles from Japan of either Suzuki Honda or local make. Get rid of motorcycles and that will be the end of the biggest fatalities on the roads of Pakistan.
It is very important for the government to run buses from street to street and get rid of motorcycles which cause the maximum fatalities in Pakistan. You will not see 100cc motorcycles on any roads in the west or USA. If you really feel for the people of Pakistan gradually weed out motorcycles completely instead of even introducing electric motorcycles. Two wheelers are the most dangerous obstructions on the road which cause maximum fatalities because most motorcyclists come the wrong way and take shortcuts.
🤐😲😤
First of all, our country is not comparable to the west or the USA. What I’m trying to say is that there are certain roads and streets which are inaccessible by cars and busses etc. Also, the solution is to have better road networks so that motorcyclists don’t have to go the wrong way. I agree that motorcycles aren’t very safe, however, when you need cheap transport under a million, you don’t have many options.
Wrong! The biggest obstructions in Lahore are the hybrid (e.g. Prius, Aqua) and now electric cars since low speed helps them squeeze more mileage. Therefore the ones driving these cars create bottleneck and hence frustrate others by driving at 40-50 kmph max in the fastest lane.
The cars are not the problem, it’s the drivers. The fast lane is to be used solely for overtaking the vehicles in the middle lane. When you’ve overtaken the car in front of you, you go back to the middle lane. Unfortunately, our awam doesn’t understand this. Hence, you see slow cars in fast lanes.
You’re likely talking about highways and you’re correct that the right-most lane is to be used for overtaking only (and keeping the right blinker on while in the overtaking lane is also wrong and confusing when an HTV does it since their overtaking lane is the middle one).
I was talking about city traffic in Lahore and the drivers of hybrid and electric cars love to drive in the right – most lane and at a very slow at the expense of traffic flow and create nuisance to others.

Minister ordered inquiry…..is all we hear…..and then all goes on as before. There is ZERO accountability and the top tier deliberately keeps it that way.
Since the van was driving on the wrong side strict punitive action must be initiated against the Patrolling Officers of that particular area as well as the concerned ASP/DSP/SP/SSP since driving on the wrong side is very common there and the NH&MP don’t seem to be concerned at all to curb all such violations.
NHA roads conditions are pathetic in Sindh n MW Police attitude here is also desperate.
In Punjab, I found almost all NHA roads are 8n better condition. GNHA must improve road conditions in Sindh ASAP.
It should be mandatory and no compromise regarding safety measures.
Fitness of drivers must be checked against any narcotics usage.
One more thing to be added, the more dangerous thing than that of narcotics is mobile usage which deviates the concentration of drivers is mobile phone usage which should be prohibited strictly during driving.
It’s pity to call M9 a motorway, where motorcycles, tractors and even rickshaws are allowed….
Traffic police should challan for hi beam lights on Motorway and in city also people don’t care how much dangerous it but especially the 4 wheelers they never let the others to drive
So I humbly request to take Action against them
Strict action required on motorways as was earlier now with out back lights vehicles move at night and nobody is to check commercial as well as private vehicles overtake wrongly
