Chery Tiggo SUVs to Get Hybrid System with 1,400 Kilometer Range

Chery has introduced the latest generation of its Super Hybrid plug-in hybrid system, which the company claims can deliver a combined driving range of up to 1,400 kilometers on a full tank and a fully charged battery.

The new drivetrain is expected to power future versions of SUVs such as the Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9. In Pakistan, Chery has already launched the Tiggo 8 PHEV and recently introduced the Tiggo 9 PHEV, with the Tiggo 7 PHEV also planned for the local market.

The newly revealed hybrid system could eventually make its way into upcoming models. The setup centers on a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. It uses a new 18.46 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, which Chery says offers higher energy density than its previous system.

The petrol engine’s thermal efficiency has reportedly improved to 44.5 percent, while the transmission has also been upgraded to enhance overall efficiency.

Two versions of the system will be available. The DHT160 produces 160 kW and 275 Nm, while the DHT230 delivers 260 kW and 330 Nm. Chery has not confirmed launch timelines for Pakistan, but the system is expected to debut in China this year.
