Islamabad Makes Registration Mandatory for Street Iftar Arrangements

The district administration in Islamabad has introduced mandatory registration and official approval for all street Iftar arrangements ahead of Ramadan 2026, citing security and public order concerns.

According to a spokesperson for the district administration, individuals or groups planning to organize public Iftar setups must submit formal applications along with complete details. The move aims to ensure safety, proper coordination, and smooth management of public spaces during peak Iftar hours.

The spokesperson said the administration will identify suitable locations and arrange essential facilities, including security. Assistant commissioners have been tasked with inspecting proposed sites before issuing permissions. So far, 18 applications have already been received from different areas of the federal capital.

Officials made it clear that no street Iftar arrangement will be allowed anywhere in Islamabad without prior registration and approval. Enforcement teams will remain active across the city throughout Ramadan to monitor compliance, and any unauthorized setup may be dismantled.

Authorities said the decision is intended to prevent traffic congestion, manage crowds effectively, and maintain law and order during evening hours. Organizers have been advised to complete the registration process well in advance to avoid last-minute delays.

The district administration also urged citizens to cooperate, stressing that the registration requirement is meant to facilitate organizers while ensuring organized and safe arrangements. Applicants have been asked to provide accurate information to speed up verification and approval.
