Karachi’s Rs. 1.86 Billion Flyover Opens for Traffic

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday inaugurated the Bhains Colony Flyover, also called the Khalid Bin Waleed Flyover, and announced several new infrastructure projects aimed at improving traffic flow across Karachi.

The flyover is expected to ease congestion in District Malir, particularly around Bhains Colony and Mehran Highway, and reduce accidents at the nearby railway crossing. It will improve connectivity for residents of Malir and Ibrahim Hyderi, the Export Processing Zone, and commuters traveling between the National Highway N-5 and Mehran Highway.

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation completed the project under the Competitive and Livable City of Karachi initiative with support from the World Bank. Authorities approved the scheme on July 21, 2025, began construction on September 21, 2025, and finished it in five months at a cost of Rs. 1.865 billion.

Addressing the ceremony, the chief minister said the flyover would provide long-term relief to commuters and support business activity by ensuring uninterrupted traffic movement between key industrial and commercial areas.

He also directed the Karachi mayor to complete a flyover at Azimpura within 100 days. He said Shahrah-e-Bhutto from Qayyumabad to Kathore would be completed within four to six weeks and later extended to the port. The Murghi Khana Bridge, he added, is nearing completion.

  • Many people don’t know locations of these projects. It would be good if google locations are shared for general public.

  • I don’t know, when and where starred these projects, I think they complete only pspers for corruption.
