The Sindh Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has implemented the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act 2024 concerning vehicle number plates, issuing a new notification to formalize the changes.
Under the amended law, vehicle number plates will now be registered in the name of the owner’s Computerized National Identity Card. This means the registered individual, based on their CNIC, will be recognized as the official holder of the number plate.
Officials said two new number plate series linked to CNIC registration have also been introduced. In addition, vehicle owners will be permitted to retain their previously registered number plate and affix it to another vehicle purchased in their name.
The department stated that the amendment has now come into force, and the revised system will apply in accordance with the newly issued notification.

Very well-done this notification.
Good decision 👍
