Islamabad Starts Development Work of Two Sectors After 11-Year Delay

After more than a decade of inactivity, development work has officially resumed in Islamabad’s F-14 and F-15 sectors.

Federal Minister for Housing and Works Riaz Hussain Pirzada inaugurated the construction activities at a ceremony held at the project site in Islamabad. The minister unveiled a commemorative plaque and planted a tree alongside senior officials and lawmakers.

According to officials, the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) has assigned execution of infrastructure development to the National Logistics Corporation, which will oversee construction in both sectors.

The housing ministry stated that the sectors were initially launched in 2015 but became entangled in administrative and legal complications that stalled progress for years. Renewed efforts to resolve these issues have now allowed work to move forward.

Spread over approximately 10,875 kanals, the two sectors will include around 11,000 residential plots and are located at what officials describe as a prime site of the federal capital.

Addressing the ceremony, Pirzada said the revival of FGEHA projects signaled that previously delayed housing schemes were gradually returning to track. He assured stakeholders that compensation issues, where applicable, would be handled fairly.

The minister added that, under the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, authorities would ensure that all commitments related to the project are fulfilled. He also praised the FGEHA legal team for clearing hurdles and urged allottees to pay installments on schedule to avoid further delays.

Officials said that, under the agreement with NLC, infrastructure development in F-14 and F-15 is expected to be completed within three years.

Other Sectors Still Facing Challenges

While work has resumed in these two sectors, other planned areas such as F-12 and G-12 remain stalled. Authorities are currently preparing planning documents, though sources indicate that acquiring possession of land in G-12 may prove difficult due to extensive existing construction. Despite this, FGEHA remains optimistic about launching both sectors in the near future.

Protest by Green Enclave Allottees

The inauguration ceremony was briefly overshadowed by a protest from allottees of Green Enclave-I, located in Bhara Kahu. Demonstrators urged the government to prioritize completion of their long-pending housing project, which was initiated in 2009 but remains unfinished.

Multiple Housing Projects Still Delayed

Besides Green Enclave, several other residential projects, including Sky Garden, Kashmir Apartments, Lifestyle Afro Apartments, and Skyline Apartments in Chaklala, have also experienced prolonged delays.

An FGEHA spokesperson said the authority is working to revive all stalled schemes and accelerate progress where work has slowed. “We are moving forward with a clear vision and timeline,” he said.
