Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to Meet Tomorrow for Ramadan Moon Sighting

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet in Peshawar on Wednesday, February 18, to observe the crescent moon marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

The session will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad and will take place at the conference hall of the Department of Auqaf, Hajj, Religious and Minority Affairs.

After reviewing and verifying moon sighting testimonies received from across the country, the chairman will make the official announcement regarding the start of Ramadan.

In addition to the central meeting in Peshawar, zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees will hold parallel sessions in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Quetta. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has formally issued notifications outlining the arrangements for these meetings.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has indicated a strong likelihood that the Ramadan crescent for 1447 AH will be visible on the evening of Wednesday, February 18, which corresponds to the 29th of Shaban.

If the moon is sighted as expected, fasting will begin nationwide on Thursday, February 19.
