Electricity prices are expected to increase across the country under the monthly fuel cost adjustment mechanism.
A request has been submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to raise power tariffs by Rs. 1.78 per unit.
The application for the January 2026 adjustment was filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA). NEPRA is scheduled to hold a hearing on the petition on February 26.
If approved, the monthly adjustment will also apply to K-Electric consumers.
Currently, the December 2025 monthly adjustment is in effect across the country, including Karachi, under which electricity was made costlier by 28 paisas per unit.
