Former Pakistan cricketer and Islamabad United signing Imad Wasim is facing serious allegations from his ex-wife, Sannia Ashfaq, who has publicly accused him of abandoning her during pregnancy, forcing her to undergo an abortion, and threatening her.
In a series of social media posts, Sania Ashfaq alleged that in December 2023, while she was pregnant with their third child, Imad Wasim left her. She claimed that she was forced to terminate the pregnancy and referred to him as a “murderer.” Ashfaq said she has evidence to support her claims.’
She shared screenshots of WhatsApp conversations that she said were between her and Wasim. According to her posts, when she asked him to take care of himself and their unborn child, he allegedly responded by threatening to file a harassment case against her. She described the messages as proof of his behavior during that time.
Ashfaq stated that she discovered his alleged affairs during her pregnancy and said she was left emotionally and physically unsupported. She wrote that the abortion caused her severe trauma and that she went through the experience alone.
In her public appeal, Ashfaq sought help from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi, asking them to intervene and ensure that her allegations are properly investigated.
She also called on Islamabad United and the Pakistan Cricket Board to review the situation. Wasim was signed by Islamabad United for Rs. 2.2 crore in the Pakistan Super League auction.
Ashfaq further questioned Wasim’s public image. She referenced a promotional event he attended for Haier, where he appeared alongside children. She wrote that while he was presenting himself publicly in a positive light, she was suffering privately.
The couple’s divorce was announced in December. Shortly after the separation, Wasim reportedly remarried.
Ashfaq stated that she is speaking out not for revenge but for justice. She further emphasized that she is seeking respect, not retaliation, and expressed hope that her voice will be heard so that no other woman or mother has to endure similar pain in the future.
