New Eligibility Criteria Announced for PM Youth Free Laptop Scheme

The Government of Pakistan has announced revised eligibility criteria for the Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme to make the program more transparent and inclusive.

Key Changes in Eligibility

According to official sources, the scheme will no longer rely solely on merit but will incorporate additional criteria:

  • Applicants must be regularly enrolled in a public or HEC-recognized university or college.
  • The scheme is now open to students enrolled in BS, Master’s, MPhil, and PhD programs.
  • Selection will be based on academic performance, verified domicile, and other defined criteria.
  • Officials said the reforms aim to ensure transparency, fairness, and broader access to digital resources. The initiative seeks to promote digital education and equal access to technology across the country.

How to Apply

Eligible students can apply by following these steps:

  • Complete registration at their respective university or college.
  • Submit an application through the official scheme website.
  • Provide accurate academic records and identification documents.
  • Wait for the merit list, after which laptops will be distributed to selected candidates.

The revised criteria are designed to facilitate students through modern technology and improve Pakistan’s overall education standards by expanding access to digital tools.
