KP to Approve Rs. 2 Million Spent on Ramadan Moon Sighting

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee spent Rs2 million on its meeting to sight the moon for Ramadan, with the amount to be paid by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The provincial government has finalized the agenda for the 48th cabinet meeting scheduled for February 25, to be chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

The approval of expenses incurred by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is among the items listed for discussion.

According to reports, an 18-point agenda has been prepared for the meeting. It includes formal approval of Rs2 million spent on the committee’s session for Ramadan moon sighting.

Other Key Agenda Items

The cabinet will also consider:

  • Approval of the wheat storage policy
  • Amendments to the women harassment law
  • Approval of the Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) Motorway under a public-private partnership model
  • Ramadan Support Program
  • Special funds for minority students

The meeting is expected to review and approve these proposals as part of the provincial government’s administrative and development agenda.

  • Oh wow, what a time to be alive.

PKR 20 million just to sight the Ramadan moon — because clearly, using a free moon-sighting app on a smartphone would be way too simple, right? Why save money when you can spend millions?

But of course, who am I to question the mighty scholars of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee? They must have some next-level telescope powered by gold or something.

And let’s not forget the Chief Minister cruising around in a PKR 10 billion private jet — because nothing says “I care about my people” like flying over them in luxury while they struggle with inflation.

Truly inspiring priorities. Spending millions on things that could cost nothing, and billions on style — while the public just watches and pays the price.
