WhatsApp is Finally Getting a Long Overdue Chat Message Upgrade

WhatsApp is reportedly developing a feature that would allow users to schedule messages to be sent automatically in chats. The functionality is expected to work in both individual and group conversations, something that has been a part of rival chatting apps for quite a while.

The feature was identified by WABetaInfo in beta version 26.7.10.72 of WhatsApp for iOS.

How It Works

The tool, which may be called Scheduled Messages, would enable users to write a message and select a specific date and time for automatic delivery. Once scheduled, the message would be sent without further action from the user.

Scheduled messages would appear in a dedicated “Scheduled Messages” section within the chat information screen. From there, users would be able to review or delete messages before they are sent.

Screenshots shared by WABetaInfo show the feature in a group chat setting. However, there is no indication that WhatsApp plans to restrict scheduling to group chats only, suggesting it could also be available in one-to-one conversations.

Still in Development

The Scheduled Messages feature remains under development and is not currently accessible to beta testers. As with other features in testing, there is no confirmation that it will be released publicly, as development plans may change.
