Chinese Flagship Phones to Copy Samsung’s Innovative Screen Hiding Feature

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to introduce a Privacy Display feature that limits screen visibility from side angles. A new leak suggests that several Chinese smartphone makers are testing similar hardware-based privacy screen technology for their future flagship models.

Hardware Level Privacy Screens

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Chinese manufacturers have begun evaluating display panels with built-in anti-peeping capabilities. Unlike software filters or third-party screen protectors, this approach integrates privacy protection directly into the AMOLED hardware.

Samsung’s implementation on the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to obscure on-screen content when viewed from the side, helping reduce the risk of shoulder surfing in public spaces. The technology reportedly works by controlling how light is emitted from the display at off angles.

Possible Launch Window

The leak indicates that Chinese brands could introduce similar privacy display technology in flagship devices launching around September.

The Xiaomi 18 series is rumored to debut during that period. The vivo X500 lineup and Oppo Find X10 series are expected to follow in October. Flagship launches from OnePlus and Realme are also anticipated within the same timeframe.

It remains unclear which specific models will adopt the hardware-level privacy screens. No company has confirmed the feature publicly.

Industry Implications

If multiple manufacturers move forward with the technology, hardware-based privacy displays could become a standard feature in premium smartphones. For now, Samsung appears set to introduce the feature first with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, while competitors continue testing similar solutions.

Further details are expected as brands begin announcing their late-year flagship devices.
