The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted mostly dry and cold weather across large parts of the country in the coming days.
PMD said continental air is currently dominating most regions, which typically brings chilly mornings and cooler nights. Islamabad is expected to remain dry with cold conditions, especially during early morning and nighttime hours. Similar weather is forecast for Murree and the surrounding Galiyat region.
Cold and dry conditions are also likely to continue in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, where temperatures have stayed low. In Balochistan, most areas are expected to see cold, dry weather as well, with no major rainfall outlook.
Meanwhile, Lahore’s air quality has deteriorated sharply. On Tuesday, the city ranked as the world’s second most polluted, with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 225, placing it in the “very unhealthy” range. The worst readings were reported from Thokar Niaz Baig, where the AQI reached 568.
Despite the persistent smog, Lahore has seen a slight easing in cold intensity, with the city’s maximum temperature expected to climb to around 28°C, making daytime conditions relatively warmer than recent days.
Authorities have urged residents, particularly children, older adults, and people with respiratory illnesses, to reduce outdoor exposure while pollution levels remain elevated.
