Punjab Approves Anti-Drone and Cybercrime Units

Punjab has become the first province in the country to establish the Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre (PIFTAC), aimed at strengthening intelligence coordination and improving law and order.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited the newly established center and was given a comprehensive briefing on PIFTAC’s operational framework and the overall security situation in the province.

Key Decisions

During the briefing, several major initiatives were approved:

  • Formation of an anti-drone unit for the first time in Punjab
  • Immediate establishment of a cybercrime cell
  • Province-wide continuous combing operations
  • Installation of state-of-the-art digital scanners at all provincial entry and exit points
  • Strengthening of the whistleblower system to curb terrorism and criminal activities

A special monitoring dashboard has also been introduced for deputy commissioners across all districts to ensure effective oversight and protection of citizens’ lives and property.

AI Hub and Pre-Emptive Strategy

The chief minister also directed the creation of an AI hub within PIFTAC to enhance cybersecurity and intelligence capabilities.

Emphasizing proactive governance, Maryam Nawaz instructed authorities to adopt a pre-emptive strategy against terrorism rather than responding after incidents occur.

She reiterated the government’s commitment to making Punjab the safest province in the country, stating that all available resources will be utilized to ensure public safety.
