The Government of Pakistan has outlined expected Eid-ul-Fitr holidays for 2026, with final dates subject to the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on the evening of March 19, 2026, which corresponds to the 29th of Ramadan, to observe the moon and announce the start of Shawwal.
If the moon is sighted on March 19 and Ramadan concludes after 29 days, Eid-ul-Fitr will likely be observed from March 20 to March 22, Friday through Sunday.
If Ramadan completes 30 days and the moon is not sighted on March 19, Shawwal will begin on March 21. In that case, Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall from March 21 to March 23, Saturday through Monday.
According to the 2026 public holidays calendar issued by the federal government, Eid holidays have been scheduled for March 21, 22, and 23, subject to moon sighting. However, an earlier moon sighting would shift the holidays to March 20 through March 22.
Authorities will confirm the final dates after the official moon sighting announcement.
