The ARY Group is nearing the acquisition of Nukta, the digital media platform founded by senior journalist Kamran Khan, with the deal understood to be in its final stages, according to people familiar with the matter.
According to a report by Profit, senior officials from both organizations confirmed that the transaction is “almost final,” although some details, including the structure and valuation, are yet to be finalized. The deal is also expected to include a prime-time television show for Kamran Khan on ARY.
Nukta, which was launched in November 2024 and initially backed by property tycoon Malik Riaz, has faced financial pressure in recent months following the withdrawal of funding. The company carried out multiple rounds of layoffs, including a major downsizing in November 2025, as it struggled to sustain operations with a large team and high costs.
Despite these challenges, Nukta managed to build a presence in Pakistan’s digital media space within a short span, producing a significant volume of content and attracting a growing online audience.
For ARY, the acquisition would add a ready-made digital news operation to its existing television and online portfolio. However, it remains unclear whether Nukta will continue as an independent brand or be absorbed into ARY’s broader media network.
If finalized, the deal would mark the end of Malik Riaz’s long-standing attempts to establish a foothold in the media industry and reflect ongoing consolidation within Pakistan’s digital news ecosystem.
