FIA Seizes Smuggled Medicines Worth Rs. 3 Million in Quetta

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) seized smuggled and illegal medicines worth more than Rs3 million during a raid in Quetta and arrested one suspect, officials said on Thursday.

Deputy Director of the FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle, Fazlur Rehman, said the agency carried out the operation after receiving a tip-off about the sale of smuggled medicines at a medical store in the provincial capital.

He said the FIA team recovered a large quantity of medicines allegedly smuggled from neighbouring countries, including Iran and India. Authorities arrested a suspect identified as Waseem during the raid.

Officials estimated the value of the recovered medicines at more than Rs3 million.

The FIA registered a case against the suspect under the Drugs Act, 1976, and launched further investigations to trace the supply network.

Fazlur Rehman said the agency would continue its crackdown against individuals involved in the sale and distribution of illegal medicines.
