U.S. Issues Security Alert for Citizens in Pakistan

The United States Mission in Pakistan has issued a security alert for its citizens amid heightened tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The mission stated that Pakistani security forces have increased their presence in major cities due to potential terrorist threats. It warned that law enforcement facilities, military installations and major commercial centers may remain possible targets.

The advisory urges U.S. citizens to exercise caution when visiting such locations, especially during peak hours. It also reminds citizens to follow standard personal security precautions.

U.S. nationals have been advised to remain aware of their surroundings, avoid large crowds and ensure their Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) registration is up to date.

They have also been instructed to leave the area immediately if they unexpectedly find themselves near military activity, monitor local media for updates, keep a low profile and carry identification at all times.
