Punjab Completes Preparations for New Driving License Test System

Artificial intelligence-based vehicles will soon be introduced for driving licence tests in Lahore as part of measures aimed at improving transparency in the testing process and reducing corruption and favoritism.

A total of 44 artificial intelligence-based vehicles have been purchased and will reach the traffic headquarters next week. The number of vehicles was initially planned to be lower but was later increased to 44.

Each vehicle has been purchased at a cost of about Rs. 4.8 million. Installation of additional equipment will cost Rs. 400,000 to Rs. 500,000 per vehicle. Final testing of the artificial intelligence-based vehicles has already been completed at the traffic headquarters.

The vehicles will be equipped with sensors, cameras, and biometric machines to automate the driving test process. Driving tests will now be conducted on GPS-based tracks instead of the traditional manual track.

The system will reduce human involvement in the testing process. Artificial intelligence-based vehicles will be provided to driving testing centers across Lahore in phases.
