This was announced during a press conference tonight by Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik.

The revised prices will take effect immediately (Saturday), March 6, 2026.

The increase comes after tensions in the Middle East pushed commodity markets into a state of panic in the region. Also, the International Monetary Fund earlier demanded the federal government to immediately pass on rising petroleum costs to consumers and avoid providing subsidies on petrol and diesel.

Prior to today’s hike, the federal government a week ago had already increased the price of high-speed diesel to Rs. 280.86 per litre and motor spirit to Rs. 266.17 per litre.
