Punjab Clarifies Reports of School Closures and Online Classes

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that schools across the province will remain open according to the existing academic schedule, dismissing speculation about possible closures or a shift to online classes.

In a statement, the minister said that all public and private schools in Punjab will continue to operate normally and there is no plan to suspend physical classes this year. He added that the government is committed to completing the academic calendar without disruption.

“Schools are open as per schedule. No closure and no online classes. All public and private schools are open,” the minister said.

The clarification comes amid reports that the federal government is considering several fuel conservation measures due to oil supply disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

A cabinet committee monitoring petroleum prices recently finalized a national action plan in consultation with provincial authorities to address the situation.

The plan is expected to be presented to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif before being placed before the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for approval.
