Karachi Opens Upgraded Jinnah Bridge After Rehabilitation Work

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Monday inaugurated the improvement and rehabilitation project of Jinnah Bridge in District Keamari, completed at a cost of Rs. 609 million.

Speaking at the ceremony, the mayor said Jinnah Bridge serves as an important link connecting the port with major highways as well as the Native Jetty Bridge.

He said the project included the replacement of 552 metres of expansion joints and the completion of 775,000 square metres of asphalt work as part of the rehabilitation process.

Murtaza Wahab said the rehabilitation of Jinnah Bridge would help improve traffic movement between the port area and other parts of Karachi, facilitating smoother travel for commuters and transport vehicles using the route.

He added that providing safer and better travel facilities for citizens remained a priority of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). The mayor also said that sewage treatment plants in Mauripur and Haroonabad were expected to become operational later this year.
