OpenAI plans to introduce its AI video generator Sora inside ChatGPT in the near future, The Information reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Sora is part of OpenAI’s broader push into multimodal artificial intelligence and competes with text-to-video tools developed by companies such as Meta and Alphabet’s Google.
While many artificial intelligence models currently focus on text-based tasks, tools capable of generating videos and images are seen as the next stage in the technology’s development.
These systems could expand the potential applications of AI in content creation and media production.
Sora’s Earlier Launch
OpenAI introduced Sora as a standalone application in September 2025. The platform allows users to generate and share AI-created videos.
The app can produce videos based on prompts, including content derived from copyrighted material, which users can share through social media-style feeds.
Standalone App to Continue
According to The Information, OpenAI plans to continue operating Sora as a separate application even after integrating the technology into ChatGPT.
Reuters said it could not immediately verify the report. OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours.
