Islamabad United Fast Bowler Skips PSL 11 for IPL 2026

Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani is set to miss the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) after landing an IPL contract with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), ruling him out of his planned stint with Islamabad United.

According to reports, Blessing Muzarabani has already informed Islamabad of his decision to pull out, while KKR confirmed the signing.

KKR moved for Muzarabani after the franchise was directed by the BCCI in December to part ways with Mustafizur Rahman, the Bangladesh left-armer they had bought at the 2026 auction for INR 9.2 crore.

Mustafizur has since been picked up by Lahore Qalandars for the PSL, which begins on March 26.

Muzarabani is a familiar name in PSL circles, having previously won the title with Multan Sultans. He went unsold at the PSL auction on February 11, but later joined Islamabad through a direct signing, following the franchise’s decision to release West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph.

With the PSL and IPL overlapping for a second straight year, Muzarabani’s switch is the latest example of a player moving from a PSL agreement to the IPL.

Last season, South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch was drafted by Peshawar Zalmi but later joined Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement, a move that resulted in a one-season PSL ban for Bosch.

Muzarabani’s demand has been boosted by strong recent form, including an impressive T20 World Cup where Zimbabwe topped their group and reached the Super Eight. He finished with 13 wickets in six matches, including a four-wicket burst in a notable win over Australia.
