Authorities have decided to increase fines for traffic violations on the Lahore Ring Road as part of new measures to improve road safety and traffic management.
According to sources, the penalty for over-speeding may rise from the current Rs. 500 under a new proposal. Officials have already sent a summary to Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, for approval.
Authorities have also approved the establishment of a modern command and control center to monitor traffic on the ring road.
The facility will operate under the Lahore Ring Road Authority and will use advanced AI-powered cameras to detect over-speeding and other traffic violations.
Officials said the center will monitor more than 150,000 vehicles daily, allowing authorities to take stricter action against violators and improve traffic discipline.
The project will cost Rs. 871 million and authorities expect to complete it within four months. The system aims to strengthen traffic monitoring, improve security on the ring road, and ensure stricter enforcement of traffic laws for commuters.

Vot a catch!
Usual money collection from public. Everyone does not do overspending but it happened inadvertently by some proceeding to catch flights, even though they don’t intend to do so. Punishing such people is not fair. Yes youngsters overspending for joy purposes must be fined who over speed twenty to thirty miles the prescribed speed. A person getting a flight is always in a sense of urgency, tries to hurry to get the flight over speeding by 10 too 15 km is not over speeding in the real sense. But who will judge this state of mind of the driver. Everyone should mind the fact that road leads to Airport.
Fine increase will be another nonsense of the concerned officials.
No brother, the law won’t accept this. Not a medical emergency. Leave early is something that you will be told. Best you tell yourself because its annoying to hear it from others.
Going 10+ isn’t an issue.
Increasing fines is not a viable solution. First develop a plan to reduce chinchi rickshaw and motor bikes. The government should add EV public transport along with bus stop.No parking of vehicle should be allowed on road side having proper paid parking buildings in every area will resolve the issue.Lastly involvement of high ranking traffic officer in corruption for taking bribes from transporter on prescribe route should be strictly monitored by anti corruption and if the anti corruption department is not delivering abolish the department
Wazir a azam chor hy bas
When absolute imbeciles are handed govt and power this is the ultimate result, “Punishments for thee, luxuries for me”. Commission earnings and share percentage in road construction has choked development now even roads. No amount of fines can stop this now
I have no issue with fines, just attach proof. Give room for dispute option. No interaction with police preferable. I don’t want to talk to those ego.
