Apple has updated its AirPods Max headphones with a new H2 chip, introducing improvements to active noise cancelling and additional features. The updated model, referred to as AirPods Max 2, brings changes focused on audio processing and connectivity while keeping the original design.
According to Apple, the AirPods Max 2 deliver 1.5 times more effective active noise cancelling compared to the previous model.
The H2 chip also enables features such as Adaptive Audio, Live Translation, and conversation awareness, which automatically lowers media volume when speech is detected nearby.
The headphones now support Bluetooth 5.3 and include a high dynamic range amplifier, which Apple says improves audio clarity.
Apple has also added a camera remote feature, allowing users to use the digital crown as a shutter button. The AirPods Max 2 are available in Midnight, Starlight, Orange, Purple, and Blue color options.
The design remains unchanged from the original AirPods Max released in 2020. Battery life is still rated at 20 hours with active noise cancelling enabled. The headphones charge via a USB-C port, which also supports 24-bit, 48kHz lossless audio playback.
They are priced at $549.
