The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has directed residents of Islamabad to install water harvesting systems in all residential and commercial buildings within six months.
According to officials, the system will collect water from rooftops and buildings and channel it back into the ground as part of efforts to conserve water resources.
The CDA has also made it mandatory to include water harvesting systems in the design of new building plans. The directive applies not only to houses and commercial properties but also to farmhouses, government buildings, playgrounds, and rural areas.
Authorities said that CDA teams will begin door-to-door inspections after the six-month deadline to ensure compliance with the new requirement.
Officials warned that strict action will be taken against those who fail to install the systems, including the imposition of heavy fines.
