OnePlus’s New Magnetic Cooler Can Drop Temperature by -22°C

Alongside the brand new OnePlus 15T, the Chinese phone maker has also unveiled a handful of new cool accessories to complement the compact flagship device. One of these is a magnetic cooler that can snap to smartphones and drop temperatures significantly, which should be ideal for gaming.

The 40W Super Ice Magnetic Cooler is built around a 1600mm² custom TEC cooling plate, which can drop temperatures as low as -22°C. It is designed for instantaneous results, being able to drop its temperature to 0°C in 18 seconds and -1.41°C in 20 seconds, but under controlled conditions.

As the name says, the cooler attaches magnetically to Androids and iPhones, using up to 10N of magnetic force for a secure attachment. It comes with multiple cooling modes to choose from, depending on your needs, such as high, medium, low, and auto.

As with most gaming accessories, this one also has the customary RGB lighting. It is unclear if these lights are customizable. The fan noise goes up to 39dB in performance mode and 28dB in low-power mode.

For the best results, OnePlus recommends using the magnetic charger with the company’s own 100W GaN SuperVOOC charger for optimal performance, but any PD charger rated at 45W or higher should work just fine as well. The Super Ice Magnetic Cooler can pair with smartphones with its ColorOS X Mode using Bluetooth, and also brings system optimization when working with compatible OnePlus devices.

The cooler can keep hot air away from your hands using its dual airflow channel, which includes an axial fan, fin-based heat dissipation, and layered materials like copper foil and thermal silicone pads.

The Super Ice Magnetic Cooler is priced at $33 in China, and it is unclear if it will see a global launch.
