Tecno’s New AI Upgrade Will Automate Tasks on Your Phone

Tecno is developing a new AI feature called EllaClaw, designed to automate tasks directly on its smartphones. The tool will be integrated into Tecno’s existing AI assistant, Ella, and is expected to enter beta testing next month.

Users will be able to register for the beta through an online sign-up, with more details expected soon.

System-Level Integration

EllaClaw is based on OpenClaw, an AI agent platform that allows users to perform tasks through predefined “skills.” These skills function like programmable instructions and can either be created by users or shared by others.

Unlike standard implementations that rely on chat platforms, Tecno is embedding EllaClaw directly into its system via HIOS, its Android-based interface. This allows the assistant to operate at a deeper system level.

Task Automation

Tecno has already developed a set of initial skills to demonstrate the system’s capabilities.

The Smart SMS Summary skill scans messages to highlight important alerts such as bank notifications, bills, and time-sensitive updates, while identifying messages that can be safely deleted.

The Daily Schedule skill reviews calendar events, notes, weather updates, and news to generate a daily briefing.

Users can trigger these skills using natural language commands or schedule them to run automatically. The system handles the underlying processes, removing the need for repeated instructions.

EllaClaw includes persistent memory, enabling it to learn from past interactions and adjust to user preferences over time. This feature also allows the system to manage ongoing and scheduled tasks more effectively.

Privacy Safeguards

Given its access to multiple data sources, Tecno has implemented privacy protections within EllaClaw. User data is isolated, and safeguards are designed to prevent unauthorized third-party access.
