Punjab Extends Ban on Drones Across the Province

The Punjab government has extended the ban on outdoor drone flying across the province for another 30 days, citing public safety concerns.

The Punjab Home Department imposed the restriction under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, stating that the ban will remain in force for 30 days from the date of issuance unless withdrawn earlier.

The department had previously imposed the ban on February 25, which expired on March 25. According to the notification, the restriction does not apply to small drones used for indoor activities, including events held in halls or marquees.

It states that organizers will be responsible for ensuring safe use of drones within confined indoor spaces. The ban also does not apply to drones used by intelligence and law enforcement agencies.

The Home Department said the decision aims to ensure the safety of people and protect buildings and installations in view of the prevailing security situation.
