WhatsApp has announced several new features, including the ability to use two accounts on the same iPhone, expanded chat transfer options, and new AI-powered tools.
Two WhatsApp Accounts on One iPhone
The messaging platform now allows users to run two different WhatsApp accounts on a single iPhone, a feature that was previously available only on Android devices.
With this update, users can easily switch between accounts, and the app will display the profile picture in the bottom tab to indicate which account is currently active.
Cross-Platform Chat Transfer
WhatsApp has also expanded its chat transfer feature, enabling users to move their chat history from iOS to Android devices.
This improvement makes it easier for people switching platforms to keep their conversations intact.
Easier File Management
The update also introduces improved storage management tools. Users can now:
- Find and delete large files directly within a chat
- Access storage options by tapping the chat name and selecting Manage Storage
- Remove media files only, while keeping the text chat history intact
AI Features and Smarter Messaging
WhatsApp is also introducing several AI-powered features supported by Meta.
These include:
- Sticker suggestions when typing emojis, allowing users to replace emojis with stickers with one tap
- Photo editing in chat using Meta AI before sending images
- AI Writing Help, which can draft suggested replies based on the conversation while keeping messages private
Gradual Rollout
WhatsApp said the new features are currently rolling out gradually and will become available to all users worldwide in the coming weeks.
