Lt. (Retd) Sohail Ashraf Appointed Chief Commissioner Islamabad After Randhawa Removed

The federal government has removed Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa from his position as Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and appointed Lt. (Retd) Sohail Ashraf as the new Chief Commissioner.

Following federal government approval, the Cabinet Division issued the official notification regarding the appointment.

Lt. (Retd) Sohail Ashraf, a Grade-20 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), was previously serving in the Punjab government. Prior to his new assignment, he held the position of Secretary Communications and Works, Punjab.

He has also served as Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad and Deputy Commissioner Mandi Bahauddin during his career in the civil service.

Sohail Ashraf is also likely to be appointed as the new Chairman CDA.

The development marks a key administrative change in the federal capital’s top management structure, with the chief commissioner also playing a central role in overseeing urban governance through the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
