The federal government has amended the billing system for consumers generating electricity through solar panels. It has removed all relief on excess electricity produced beyond approved limits.
Under the new regulations, an Export MDI (Maximum Demand Indicator) check has been applied to solar connections.
Consumers who install additional panels beyond their approved generation license will no longer receive any discounts or credit for the extra electricity exported to the grid.
Distribution companies have been instructed to declare all excess electricity as “zero units,” meaning that electricity produced beyond the units approved under the net metering policy will not be credited to the consumer’s account.

it is really hard to understand the logic of the government! they would rather pay exuberant amount to IPPs than get electricity at a fraction of the cost!
The logic is pretty simple; the IPPs fund the government’s jets unlike independent producers. Solar panels used to give them a metric ton of money via import taxes, and now that they’re here, it’s time they make them useless so they can get more money via bribes.
They are beneficiaries of the IPPs, whats got you confused? Would they actually take any of these anti citizen steps if they were not benefiting..?
So ipps can can everyone to pay for their fuel charges as well as their idle plants whether they generate or not
But solar users who produce excess electricity are forced to pay extra charges, fixed charges, and now they are told they won’t get relief

We blame everyone except who actually brought this upon all residential solar install. People who had money and space they installed large systems exporting hundreds of units and put burden on system. This lead to government intervention to discourage export of solar power.

A step in the wrong direction. In one way this is a protection or support to the IPPs. The government should look into the IPP matter under a judicial commission to find out which individuals have benefited from this.
People in the govt are also the owners of IPPs and commoners have to pay for their top of the line jets.

It’s very simple. Government has made final decision to curb Solar Energy which costs Rs. 2 per KWH & imposed on public IPPs costing now Rs. 45 per KWH. We are unique in world to kill own people through poverty and deprivation.
Federal govt doing al this amendments means federal govt completely involved in IPPs beneficiaries. while all these amendment are not users friendly but to generate profit for IPPs. IK truly revealed their game how they are looting their own people by paying extra charges, extra tax further charges, capacity charges (electricity use or not but pay for it) , payment in dollars, etc.
