A magnitude 6.1 earthquake rattled multiple cities across Pakistan, with tremors strongly felt in the capital Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and several northern districts, including Chitral, Swat, Dir, and Malakand.

According to the latest official data from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the seismic event originated in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The quake struck at a depth of 190 kilometers, with its epicenter located at coordinates 36.47 N and 70.85 E. This confirms and updates earlier preliminary reports from international monitoring agencies that had initially estimated the magnitude at 5.9.

According to preliminary data released by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the seismic event originated in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The quake struck at a depth of 190 kilometers, with its epicenter located approximately 32 kilometers southeast of Jurm, Afghanistan. The EMSC noted that these initial source parameters are currently awaiting official review by a seismologist.
