The Pakistan Super League (PSL) Technical Committee has rejected Lahore Qalandars batter Fakhar Zaman’s appeal against his two-match suspension, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced.
According to the PCB, the appeal was reviewed by the PSL Technical Committee, which includes Professor Javed Malik, Dr. Mumraiz Naqshband, and Syed Ali Naqi.
After examining all evidence and hearing submissions from relevant individuals, the committee upheld the ban originally imposed by match referee Roshan Mahanama.
“The appeal was heard today by the PSL Technical Committee,” the PCB said in its statement. “After conducting a de novo inquiry, reviewing all evidence, and hearing submissions from relevant individuals, the committee has dismissed the appeal and upheld the two-match ban.”
Fakhar Zaman, 35, was charged with a Level 3 offense under Article 2.14 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The charge relates to an alleged breach of Article 41.3 of the playing conditions, which prohibits actions that alter the condition of the ball.
The incident took place during a PSL 11 match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings on March 29. On-field umpires Faisal and Sharfuddoula reported a suspected attempt to change the condition of the ball ahead of the final over of Karachi’s run chase.
Match officials inspected the ball and determined that its condition had been altered. As a result, a five-run penalty was awarded against Lahore Qalandars.
This penalty reduced Karachi Kings’ target from 14 runs to nine in the final over. Karachi comfortably chased the revised target with three balls remaining.
Fakhar denied the allegations throughout the disciplinary process and requested a full hearing under the PSL Code of Conduct. However, following a disciplinary hearing led by match referee Mahanama on Tuesday, the two-match suspension was confirmed and has now been upheld on appeal.
