Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a relief package aimed at supporting citizens amid the ongoing global crisis.
As part of the package, public transport has been made free across all cities in Punjab. The decision applies to services including the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train, Metro Bus, Speedo Bus, and Green Electric Buses, allowing commuters to travel without tickets.
The provincial government said the move is intended to ease the financial burden on citizens and encourage the use of public transport. The relief package also includes support for the agriculture sector.
Farmers will receive cash assistance along with a diesel subsidy of Rs. 100 per litre per acre to help protect agricultural activity and food security. In addition, every registered motorcycle owner will be provided a subsidy of Rs. 100 per litre on up to 20 litres of fuel.
The chief minister said the government will continue to take measures to support citizens during difficult economic conditions and urged the public to make use of free transport facilities.
