The Sindh government has announced plans to install big screens in Karachi and several other cities to show the FIFA World Cup 2026 semifinals and final for football fans.
The screenings are being organized by the Sindh Department of Sports and Youth Affairs across different divisions and districts of the province.
Sindh Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar said the semifinal matches will be shown on July 15 and 16 at the Youth Development Center in Sharafi Goth, Malir, Karachi. The final will be screened at the same venue on July 20.
The semifinal and final matches will also be shown at Samdia Hotel in Hashim Town, Shaheed Benazirabad; Khara Complex in Larkana; the Sindh Sports Board Hostel in Hyderabad; and Gamma Stadium in Mirpurkhas.
In Sukkur, all three matches will be shown at the Municipal Stadium, while the final will also be screened at Rohri Football Ground.
The government will also screen all three matches at the Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar Sports Complex in Ghotki. In Thatta, only the final will be shown at the Thatta Sports Complex.
Mahar said the initiative is part of the provincial government’s efforts to promote sports and healthy activities among young people.
He added that public screenings of major international events such as the FIFA World Cup would increase enthusiasm among young people, support the promotion of sports and help strengthen football culture across Sindh.
