Punjab to Provide Electric Bikes to Govt Employees

The Punjab government has decided to provide electric bikes to Excise Department employees in a move aimed at improving field performance and helping the department meet its Rs. 73 billion recovery target.

According to the details, excise inspectors across Punjab, including both male and female staff, will receive electric two-wheelers on the basis of performance.

In the first phase, the government plans to distribute 150 electric bikes along with 50 electric scooties for female inspectors. More than Rs. 50 million has been allocated for the procurement of these vehicles, and the purchasing process has reportedly entered its final stage.

Officials said the distribution of electric bikes and scooties is expected to begin next month.

Under the plan, the vehicles will eventually be transferred to the employees after three years, effectively allowing them to become the owners after the completion of the period.
