Teachers’ Conveyance Allowance Reduced Across Punjab

The Punjab School Education Department has decided to reduce financial benefits for teachers as part of an austerity campaign, a move that will affect thousands of educators across Punjab, Pakistan.

According to official directives issued to all District Education Authorities, teachers will now receive conveyance allowance only for the days they attend school.

If a teacher is absent on a particular day, the allowance for that day will not be paid.

Sources said the decision will apply to more than 300,000 teachers across the province.

Allowance is also not payable on Friday holidays

Under the new policy, teachers will not receive a conveyance allowance for Fridays, as the day is considered a weekly holiday in many public schools.

Officials stated that the measure has been introduced to reduce government expenditures under an ongoing cost-saving campaign.

Meanwhile, sources also revealed that conveyance allowances for the past three weeks have been withheld, causing concern among teachers across the province.
