Restaurants across Pakistan will now be required to close by 10:00 pm under new austerity and energy-saving measures introduced by the government.
According to an official notification, the decision is part of a broader campaign aimed at reducing energy consumption and promoting efficient resource use.
While dine-in services must end by 10 pm, restaurants will still be allowed to continue delivery and takeaway services beyond the closing hours to ensure customers can access food services.
The restrictions will not apply to essential services, including bakeries, medical stores, petrol pumps, CNG stations, and tandoors, according to the notification.
Officials said the measures will come into effect immediately, adding that the steps are intended to reduce electricity consumption and support the government’s austerity campaign.
