WhatsApp is developing a new in-app noise cancellation feature for voice and video calls, currently spotted in the latest beta version for Android. The feature is still in development and is being gradually rolled out to beta testers.
Built-In Noise Reduction
The upcoming feature is designed to automatically reduce background noise during calls. It aims to improve voice clarity in environments with traffic, crowds, or wind.
By filtering out surrounding noise, the feature is expected to make conversations clearer for both sides of the call.
Toggle Available in Call Menu
Users will be able to enable or disable noise cancellation through a toggle located in the call interface. The feature is set to be enabled by default.
This allows users to switch the function on or off depending on their preference or environment.
The feature is currently being tested with a limited group of Android beta users. If testing proceeds without issues, it is expected to roll out more broadly to all Android users in the coming weeks or months.
