New York Times Reveals Real Identity of Bitcoin Founder Satoshi Nakamoto

The long-standing mystery surrounding the creator of Bitcoin may have taken a dramatic turn after The New York Times recently published an investigation identifying 55-year-old British cryptographer Adam Back as the person behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.

The newspaper’s investigation traced technical, historical, and communication links connecting back to the early development of Bitcoin.

The world’s first decentralized cryptocurrency was launched in 2009.

Adam Back is widely known in cryptography circles for inventing Hashcash in 1997, which is a proof-of-work system that later became a foundational element of Bitcoin’s mining mechanism.

The investigation wrote about similarities between Hashcash’s design and Bitcoin’s architecture, alongside Back’s deep involvement in early digital currency research.

The report also mentioned that Back was among the first individuals ever contacted by Nakamoto during Bitcoin’s early development phase.

Denial

Despite the claims, Back has once again denied being Bitcoin’s creator. He has repeatedly rejected similar allegations in the past. He said he was only an early contributor and observer of Bitcoin’s emergence rather than its architect.

The identity of Satoshi Nakamoto has remained one of the biggest mysteries in technology and finance for over a decade, with several candidates like Back previously suggested but never confirmed.

Nakamoto is believed to control wallets holding roughly one million bitcoins mined during the network’s early days.
